Hello beautiful people, Prom is a topic that didn't matter to me 2 years ago. Living in Ismailia in Egypt, we didn't have proms before. I saw it in movies and countless tutorials about it on Youtube. I always didn't understand the fuss about it. To me it was silly, I found everyone was exaggerating about Prom.
But after deciding, that we'll be the first ones to have a prom in Ismailia and helping in preparing it, I understood the fuss about it.
For about 2 months me and my friends we kept talking about: How we'll do our hair?/What dress to buy?..etc.
My experience about Prom is that it's awesome. One of the most magical nights truly.
Our Prom wasn't like the american Prom. The couples only went together but the single people went with their friends, meaning we didn't have to worry about dates. I just went with my friends. We had a voting for prom king and queen and alot of other titles but due to there was no time, the people were randomly picked. So not the most genuine and honest vote.
It was held at a hotel, not the gym as in the movies.
We danced and laughed and took photos. We gathered together for probably the last time because alot of people are heading their separate ways. This is the sad thing about prom and the end of highschool. I don't know about you but I've been with the same people in the same school for 15 years since kindergarten. I love them dearly, and I'm incredibly upset that we are going to depart ways but this is a part of growing up and becoming adults.
I just think that any friends I'll make won't be quite like them because we spend in college an average of 5 years not 15.
Anyways, sorry for the sad bit at the end but this life. I hope you enjoyed the post and that you got to learn about prom from a different perspective.
~Love always, Merna xoxo
